Abou Tarek was living with his wife, their daughter and two sons at Qousseir in the Homs region. He owned a small repair shop before retiring.
His wife Oum Tarek was working as a public servant. After working for many years, the family had finally succeeded in saving enough money to build themselves a home. But then the war came, destroying the family home and Abou Tarek's shop.
Without belongings and almost no money, they have since fled Qoussier for Damascus where they are crammed into a small room, which they can no longer afford, in the suburb of Doueila in the south of the Syrian capital. The youngest child is attending school but their two sons have disappeared.
The war which they had left behind at Quoussier has now caught up with them - a mortar shell has fallen on their room! No-one was injured but the little they possessed has been destroyed in the bombing.
