Yousef Al-Ali and Abir Al-Moutarada
Abri and Yousef have five children: the oldest, Zi Al-Nourine born in 2006, Lawrence born in 2008, Hala and Haya born in 2010 and the youngest, Mohamed Nur, born in 2017.
From their marriage to the beginning of the hostilities which occurred in the region from 2011, the family lived in Daraa with the father’s parents. During the war, between 2011 and 2012, Abir and Yousef’s family lived away from this home. When they returned it had been totally destroyed and they had to seek refuge with Abir’s parents. They stayed there for three months, living in very precarious conditions with no water and electricity. Following this, they lived in the small house of a friend with one room and a kitchen. Unfortunately, this house was infested with insects.
The father, Yousef, was a blacksmith but suffered from two herniated discs and was not able to continue working. In 2017 when his son Mohamed Nur was three months old, he left the family and there has been no news of him since. As for Abir, she works at a biscuitmakers but her wage is not enough to support her family.
Aid from Coup de Pouce would enable Abir’s family to get back on their feet by giving them, in the first instance, the chance to find more suitable accommodation.
