Farouk and Hala Baage
The family we are focusing on in April is that of Farouk Baage and his wife Hala.
Born in 1982 and 1984 they have one daughter, Asmahane, born in 2013, and one boy, Omar, born in 2016. Until the beginning of the hostilities which ravaged their country, Hala and Farouk were living in Roshdeyah near Deir ez-Zor. Farouk was a veterinarian working in an official capacity, while Hala taught Arabic.
In 2013 when the conflict broke out in their region, the entire family had to move to Kameshli in the north east of Syria. However, after a time the situation worsened in this region also which necessitated Hala and her children to move to Damascus, where they have been living with their retired grandparents since 2018. In the meantime, in 2015 the father disappeared from the family home and they have had no news of him since.
Aid from Coup de Pouce is sought to enable Hala to obtain appropriate treatment for her daughter who does not speak and probably suffers from a form of autism.
