School at Ma’arat Al-Numan
Situated in the d’Iblib region, the Ma’arat Al-Numan Aid Committee would like to open a school in the area. In fact, as a result of the conflict, the majority of the schools in the town have been damaged and are now closed. The Committee has found an old building which, once renovated, will enable the education of up to 70 children.
The total cost of the project will reach 5,190€ / 6,385CHF. This includes the renovation of the building, the class materials and the rent, along with the salaries of the personnel for the first six months of the project (one director, two teachers and one administrator).
Coup de Pouce has this month been chosen by the group Feeling Gospel and the Geneva Squash Club to be the beneficiary of a fund-raising evening on Thursday 21st November in support of the people of Syria. Thanks to your personal donations and the money which will be raised at this event, we hope to finance all or a portion of this project.
Over the long term, the Committee is intending to ensure the administration of the school by the support of Wales and the European Union (EU). They have previously benefited in 2012 from aid from the EU which has enabled them to provide food baskets to the local population and to construct a bakery.
